NO SHOWS
Undoubtedly one of the most frustrating irritants for the accommodation
provider is the non appearance of booked guests, more commonly
known as 'No Shows'.
Invariably the 'No Shows' will not have paid, or committed themselves
to a deposit. As the environment in which the 'No Shows' operate
is changing more towards cashless transactions, their operating
conditions are becoming less favourable. Very few accommodation
premises will accept unsecured bookings in this day and age, so
why should you.
There are a few golden rules to be observed which should help
to eliminate the threat of No Shows:-
- All bookings must be secured with a deposit - cash / cheque
/ P.O / credit card.
- Always get pre-authorisation on all credit card details.
- Clearly state your cancellation policy on all booking communications
- If there is insufficient time to receive a deposit and no credit
card details are available, clearly state that room can only
be held until a specified time, preferably early evening(i.e.
5pm
or 6pm) - no exceptions.
- Open vouchers are no guarantee of arrival - same principals
should apply.
